Presenting Author Tenisha Wilson (2nd year MFM Fellow)

Tenisha Wilson, MD, PhD is a current 2nd year Maternal Fetal Medicine fellow at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. She received her MD and PhD from the University of Florida College of Medicine. In graduate school, she studied immunology and her dissertation research focused on investigating the role of an immune system regulator, Suppressor of Cytokine Signaling 1 (SOCS1) in maintaining tolerance and preventing autoimmune disease in systemic lupus erythematous. 

During residency, Dr. Wilson focused on understanding obstetric diseases that contribute to the disparities in maternal morbidity and mortality between African-American and Non-Hispanic White individuals, particularly within the disease focus of preeclampsia. 

In addition to basic science research, Dr. Wilson is passionate about serving and educating the community and advancing diversity in medicine. To that end, she has dedicated her social media platforms to educating the community, and mentoring, motivating, and inspiring premedical and medical students.
